I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore

Hear that, Bruce Springsteen?

Also, I have a feeling we will never get back there. This is a nation probably permanently broken, thanks to the sentiments of folks like The Boss who spent years railing against the previous administration -- even well before that administration won election and took office.

Now Springsteen presents a hopeful message of unity in a Super Bowl ad that hawks Jeeps.

So despite that so-authentic-looking weathered face, the well-worn-looking boots and western hat as well as an earnestly thick voice probably is not enough to sell anyone on unity as supposedly personified in a Lebanon, Kansas chapel. It doesn't translate to selling Jeeps, either.

If unity is about coming to the middle, then drive that Jeep to Washington and tell it to the national leaders of America. All they seem to want is a fight or at least another kick at their enemies within.

The only middle you're likely to see, Mr. Springsteen, is center stage, where you should continue to do what you do best. The rest is just the deep end.
